So I currently have a pretty decent panasonic deck running old school sony es 5.25 components in the front and stock speakers in the rear. I am either going to get :

A) An amp to power them.

B) A set of RSD 6.5's

Because I only have enough money for one or the other right now. When all is said and done, i will have an amp driving the rsd's in the front, the sony's runnin of the deck in the rear, and two rsd 12's runnin off a monoblock in the back. But my next step is either going to be A, or B. Which would be the better first step, and how would the rsd's take to the deck power (about 20wrms/ch)

I'd get the amp first as the Sony comps might be enough with real power. Make sure to get an amp with enough power for the RSD's if you decide to go that route.

Profile makes a solid budget amp...

profile would probably be your best bet for budget. I'd put them above any other budget company for sure.

well i know i'm not going to keep the sony's up front for ever. They just dont hack it, amped or not. There are some quality's to them i dont like, but i got them for free.

I can get a sweet deal on a planet audio 4 channel that eventually bridged can send the rsd's 200wrms a side. Maybe I should just go that route for now.

I wish i could just get a good deal on a 4 channel amp, like a used one for 50 bucks and then a used set of rsd's for 75 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd definitely choose an amp first... there's no doubt about it, and those old Sony ES comps might just surprise you. Lots of things change when you get an amp, believe me. Even if you don't like some specific qualities of your speakers (harsh tweets, lack of midbass, etc.) alot of that stuff can be resolved with proper power and even bi-amping and level matching.

Don't rush into anything, though... you've got tunes right now, so there's no rush. If you keep your eyes open you WILL find some awesome deals. There were some nice-*** old-school ES amps up not too long ago... I might see if I can find 'em for you.

Tons of great deals pop up here and there on used amps, I don't see any reason to go with Profile, unless you're dead-set against buying used... which it doesn't sound like you are, thank goodness!

yeah i still need a cheap set of rsd 6.5" comps who wants to sell them to me? the sony tweeters blow my *** the 5.25's however have very impressive midbass as far as 5.25's go.
