I'm confused...

Here's the deal. I'm currently running (2) RE 35.1d amps and a small component amp. I have a 250 amp HO alternator, done with the big 3. I still have the stock battery... At high volumes I get some nasty voltage drops and pretty bad dimming. I just bought a yellow top to put under the hood to replace the stock battery. Is this going to stop my dimming or am I going to need to get a second battery... or do I need something else??? Both. If it was only at idle I could live with that.

ho alt will solve your problem. 2 batteries can help too. just use the batt under the hood for the alt and wire your system to the second battery (isolated of course). won't draw from the alt and you can always charge it i believe. at least that's my basic understanding of it.

have you checked your battery with a dmm? see what the voltage is at the battery terminals while you are bumping. my lights dim still to after beefing up my electrical system but my battery is only dropping 0.3 volts on burps.
