im confused about ohms.. pls help

well i have a sony 1200 watt amp.. heres the specs

200 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms

250 watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms

500 watts RMS x 1 bridged @ 4 ohms

and the subs i just bought are kicker cvr 10" 4 ohm subs here are their specs.

peak 600 watts

rms 300 watts

i want to get the best power out of these subs with this amp. should i have gotten 2 ohm subs to get the 250 watts to both of them or what? what im thinking is i will only be able to get 200 rms watts to each sub b/c they are 4 ohm subs is there anyway i can wire them to have a 2 ohm load? and if so can someone please make me a quick wiring diagram of how to do it? thanks in advance for the responses.

well you can wire them either in 2ohms or 8ohms thats mono x1 so either you run 2 channels stereo @ 4ohms w/200 watts to each sub....or you can run 1 sub at 500 watts mono x1....or you can buy another sony amp(same model) and run each sub mono x1 on each amp.....or you could just buy a 2ohm mono x1 stable amp...

Run one sub on each channel of that amp. You won't be able to get them wired to 2 ohms in stereo and 50W isn't that much of a difference anyway.

If after running it that way for a while you decide that you need a bit more and want to upgrade, look around this forum for some suggestions as to what can give you what you want at a price you'd be willing to pay.

thank you guys for the help i really appreciate it.

helotaxi i actually have been thinking about getting a new amp but i want to stay around $150. i would like it to do the same or better power than my sony. i would like get at least 300 rms to each sub. i here everyone around here bashing sony but ive had good luck with mine. but my friend wants it and i would also like to upgrade to something better. do you have any suggestions for amps i could check out?
