I'm addicted... (TC or SI?)

your right! the ti and ti pro havent been around for years at all! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif btw- what sub was it that you saw the titanium cone break on?

i dont follow the tc stuff that closely, but the ti and ti pro were eclipse drivers if im not mistaken, i may be not for sure, but if i am right it amazes me how tc could produce a driver for a OEM customer, but couldn't get it right on there own drivers, I mean after all before the titanium cones tc was putting eclipse cones on there subs. Which is another reason i dislike TC, cutting the legs out from under there OEMs like SoundSplinter and Eclipse, I wonder if Eclipse knows of the drivers tc sold with the OEM parts that Eclipse probably paid for. Ill go one step further and even say that this is a regular practice it seems for tc because i know they were selling the claw baskets from the old mags that I'd venture to say were paid for by Stereo Integrity.

I wonder why Si doesnt use TC as a buildhouse any more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and im not sure of the model number on the sub i saw with the titanium cone fail, but im 100% positive that it was a new TC sub with the NEW titanium cone

wow, you're such an idiot. I had one of my Mags since 2005 with no signs of wear. You were also in another thread stating that, wow, that kind of wear after two weeks for a $450.00 dollar sub. Look at how much the tc drivers cost that were having troubles. I am not saying the SI is better that TC, just saying you're an idiot with entry level subs that don't know shyt.Oh and again i forgot to mention you're an idiot. Mention something to help the original poster. Go dig up all the SI subs with wearing tinsel leads or bad cones or any other defects and please posts them, i'll let you go back to the posts from 2005 if you want. STFU and GTFO, you're no help the the original poster, ***
edit: I'm going to assume when you called me a Canadian it was a compliment considering where you're from. Fortunaltely i'm not as patriotic as you may be so making fun of where i came from is not a insult,***
The same applies to you as it does to the other guy. Read again.

One strand in 2 weeks... how many strands after a year?
You and t-money are getting butt hurt like you invented this sub youself and I'm insulting it. I never said it was a bad driver, I said I wouldn't want to see that kind of wear after 2 weeks on a speaker I paid $450 for. Maybe his is the only one to do that, who knows? I just know, as a consumer, I wouldn't want such an expensive piece of audio equipment to show that kind of wear so quickly. Especially since my Assassins looked better than that after a year and my db-500s still look brand new after a few months.

Way to show a lack of maturity in your reply, though.

Buffalohed - sorry your thread hasn't gotten off topic. I think you will be happy with any of the options you presented. If it were my money, I'd go with the 5200 since it is the cheapest of the 3 options and will require the least amount of space.
And just because I have entry level drivers means I don't know car audio? Wow, I never knew spending lots of money means I know what I'm talking about. Or maybe you're blowing what I said way out of proportion and posting illogical replies just because I said something about the speaker you own. Yup, I think thats it. By the way, I called you Canadian because 95% of the Canadians I have ever come across on the internet share your same mentality. It wasn't a compliment.

Buffalohed - Once again, I apologize for the side tracking. I know I hate it when it happens to me when I ask a question. You can take your pick at who you'd like to listen to. Supa C seems to know what he's talking about most of the time, as well as a couple other people who posted here.

ok- besides the fact that i dont believe you saw a new tc titanium cone break (no proof, or even a model # to relate it to...), but tc built the ti and ti pro for eclipse, those cones never had a breaking problem, i dont see why the cone would all of the sudden start breaking because it doesnt have the eclipse logo on it.... i do agree that tc shouldnt put eclipse cones on their custom recones (NEVER seen that on ANY production tc sounds labeled drivers, or even their standard recones) However i dont know the licsencing restrictions or anything like that, so i cant really comment on that.. however the ti and ti pro arent made any more, maybe its old stock they would otherwise have to eat, not my issue... as to why si does not use tc as a build house anymore, i have NO idea, nor do i care... it seems to me you are makeing ALOT of assumptions... you have every right to your opinion, though, and i wish you well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you do a Mag I suggest a 15" version if your looking for ridiculous down-low output... the 15" versions are SICK //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

why would i lie about what i saw. I saw the cone break. Period.

nothing special.

It is very odd that we didnt see any of the threads posted about the the eclipse cone breaking, and then as soon as tc comes out with a house brand it started popping up every other day about surround separatig from the cone, or the cone denting and falling to pieces

what am i assuming.

They sold eclipse products under their own name its a fact

They sold mag baskets under their own name its a fact

That i have a problem with.

"i know they were selling the claw baskets from the old mags that I'd venture to say were paid for by Stereo Integrity." do you KNOW for a FACT that si paid for and owns any patents or liscence agreements to the claw basket? do you know for a FACT that eclipse paid for and designed the cone? if you dont, you are assuming... and if eclipse/si dont own any patents, or exclusive rights to this stuff, tc can do what they like with their own products... and threads coming out every other day?bit of a stretch isnt it? ive seen 2-3 threads about thta, (on the aluminum cones, no less) NONE on the titanium.

All I can say is...
NDA's ruin all the fun.

Thats why im done with this thread.

Dont wanna say something i shouldnt....

so yea.. i didnt see a tc cone break. TC RULES DE WORLDSSS

To be honest fellas, I'm not super concerned about either companies business practices. I am going to buy a sub(s) and that will be it, unless I have to get it repaired. As long as they don't steal my money or break my sub it doesn't concern me.

Right now I am leaning towards the 18" 5400 because of a few people's experiences with it. Supposedly it is the most accurate driver they have ever heard by a long shot, and the more I think about it the more I want to have maximum SQ and being loud is only a secondary thing, more for fun on special occasions. Also I have to admit there is a certain appeal to having a big shiney 18" woofer, but maybe that is just me.

Of course just because I am leaning one way doesn't mean I'm not considering all opinions. Besides, it will be a couple weeks before I buy anything, and the LMS isn't even available at the moment.
