Im mad because 15 years ago I got caught with an ounce of pot. Since then I have been self employed, well work has been slow so I tried to get hired overnights at target. Everyone at the store liked me and hired me on, I passed drug test no problem, but when they did my background check corporate said I cant be employed by target. Its bullshit that a marijuana charge from 15 years ago should cause that.

I didn't even smoke it when I got caught with the ounce, I was just selling it to my dumb *** pot head friends. I had quit smoking about a year before that.

I agree, even though I have not smoked in a long time, the laws are nuts. And it has gotten worse here in Fla since I was arrested, at least back then the judge had some say in your case. Now if you get caught with an ounce its a mandatory minimum of a year and the judge has no say in it. There should at least be a time limit, if a charge wasnt violent or job related they should not hold it against you forever.

Ok let me make sure ive got this straight. I understand I was young and I violated a law. I served my jail time and my probation time and have never ****ed up in the 15 years since. But you are of the belief that, that should prevent someone from getting a job forever. Your view is that if someone gets busted for possesion once no matter how many years they go without ****ing up afterwords a company should never hire them again for the rest of their life. Have I followed this correctly?
