Unless you are listening to DVD-Audio or SACD albums, your imaging is going to get way screwed up. DVDs and specific works can be produced in surround sound, but not the music that you listen to.

See thats the thing. I can not tell the difference between the two. I can not hear half the shit you talk about. So if I can't hear it or tell the difference, it doesen't matter to me. Makes sense huh?

The music that is coming from behind you...is supposed to be coming from in front of you.

Like I said, it's all about real world application to me. It's about what my ears and the ears of others that choose to sit in my car hear. You can sit there and read from a sound science book and try and make yourself look smarter all you want. You can sit there and think my speakers are this "invisible distortion" or whatever, I can care less. Stop trying to make it so complicated. They are speakers and you listin to them, thats it!

That is just your ignorance talking...remember ignorance is bliss. Have you heard of the Jesus film? It is the most popular movie ever conceived and has been viewed by millions of people...way more than any other movie created. After understanding that fact, we can come to know that some tribes in Africa were shown the movie on an old projector outside in a field. They were incredibly astonished, surprised, and captivated...THEY THOUGHT IT WAS MAGIC. This was such an incredible experience for them that is almost incomprehensible for us. Albeit an incredible experience for them, many of us would fall asleep during the viewing because we have been exposed to the best hollywood has to offer (matrix/lord of the rings/300/etc)

Point being, if you have never been exposed to a well engineered setup, it is easy to salivate in a horribly designed one. This is the main reason record companies are pursuing the loudness war, which wishes to compress the dynamics of songs so the entire song is loud. They are putting money down that people like you will continue to install atrociously bad systems...and they are appealing to you as consumers with horribly produced music to complement it. Its a shame...

Also, you will be incredibly mistaken if you believe the speaker has no interaction with its environment. Its physics man...physics. Are you disagreeing with physics and what it has to offer? If we can observe phenomenon scientifically we can come to know what causes certain occurences and we can exploit these occurences to our advantage...and as a result technology progresses.

The reason you cant hear the difference (albeit I highly doubt you have installed a DVD-A/SACD player in your vehicle and attempted to hear the difference) is because you make your system the weakpoint instead of the recording. It becomes much easier to discern nuances in music if you have much higher dynamics, quicker transients, flatter frequency response, and low distortion.
