If you had $1500 to put into a system...

Hey guys. This is just a straight up question. If you had between $1000-$1500 to spend on a sound system, what would you get. I have a 2006 Mazda RX-8 with the 9 speaker BOSE audio so really that sounds just fine. I am talking about primarily for "bumpin" with an amp/subs. Just curious to see what would be recommended.

So you are probably fine with the stock speakers and you just want about 1500 for amp and subs?

Do you want to be loud or just have good sound quality or a combo of both. Any brands you want?

More bump than quality, but not crap either. I am perfectly happy with the BOSE system built in, so really yeah just an amp and speakers. Brands dont matter. I just want high quality equipment that will last me.

add a JL clean sweep or the new JBL Processor to the mix you wont be let down..

I'd second the SS (Sound Splinter Subs)

The Bose will need an amp bi-pass & a hi/low convertion so dont forget about parts..

Thats if you dont get a clean sweep or the JBL part..

Peace Troy

I would do 1 10's or 1 12,

some where from 500-100 watts tops.

Something good bumps, decent sound and good weight..

Nothing to much to weight down the car IMO, put 2 12's and 2 amps and ur looking at 200+ extra lbs in equipment alone..

where in the hell do you get 200 lbs from??? my 2 12s in a 5cube box an amp probably weigh 125. 200 lbs would be 50lb each sub 50lb box an 25lb amps. obviously you dont read enough to have common sense:confused:

I have one sub, two amps, and one bigass pure MDF enclosure for all of it. It's all in all reality 2 cubes, but their is a divider, an extra floor piece thats about 2'x2.5' and it all weighs **** near 100 pounds.

25 a sub, then with a enclosure that is easily at least 100,120 by itself. Then you add the amps.

Either way, you have no trunk space and worse mpg.

Why spend 1500 on just subs if you think it sounds good right now? If all you need is some bass, get a nice 15 or 2 12's and get an amp. No need to spend all that money if all you want is bass.

IMO.
