if tropical storm rita hit Galveston it would...

Not looking good. I feel bad for people who are getting into their 2nd storm in less than 1 month. Life must be low for them.

also, about the person who said global warming has nothing to do with this... I am not trying to argue because I just do not know... but don't hurricanes pick up force from higher water temperatures? Water tempuratures rise from global warming right? So in a way it is a reason behind it? or was I just misinformed through school?

Global warming would actually contribute to a cooling of the ocean temperatures.

Heat the atmosphere, the polar ice caps melt, dumping millions of tons of ice water into the oceans...which get spread around by currents. Cools the water. Yeah, eventually the ocean temperatures would rise...after the ice caps went away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Besides...global warming occurs on a much greater time scale (thousands of years) than what we're dealing with here.

For everybody on here from Houston im sure yall remember Tropical Storm Alice...it done damage, flooded...imagine a category 3 or bigger hurricane...i cant...so what are yall going to do? tommorow there suppose to have more information on where its going...i wish it would make a U turn

catagory three? thats pussy stuff man. try cat.4 (katrina) or THREE cat.3's in a row. yes....went through EVERY SINGLE ONE whenever they were in florida, and yes, i went through and still and going through katrina.

wow, you should be a HS teacher. My teacher didn't give me that much info... I guess it does make sense.

While I don't have a lot of sympathy for those that aren't prepared...that's a little harsh, even for my standards //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
i say this because i got kids in my class already planning to leaving wed morning. And it was like a class discussion. People dont seem to realize why Katrina was so bad, they see her destruction and automaticaly know its gonna be the same here. If it starts to get sever (sp) im sure ill leave also but not until then.
