If speakers won't fit, then what?

It looks like I might be running into a problem installing my JL XR 650 comps in my Corolla. I haven't been able to find out much about the mounting depth I have available in my stock front door speaker cut outs, but while I was playing around on Crutchfield's web site seeing which speakers will fit, it said a speaker with a mounting depth of 2.5" wouldn't fit. The XR mids have a mounting depth of 2.8". I really don't want to buy another set of speakers, so I'm kind of in a pickle here. Q Logic (nor anyone else I know of) makes kick panels for the Corolla. I don't know how to make kick panels and I sure as hell ain't gonna try, and having a shop make a pair would be prohibitively expensive. I could make spacers for the mids, but it looks like crap with the speaker sticking out of the door like that. I would consider buying the PG RSD65CS's because I'd probably be happy with their performance and they're not expensive at all, but I can't find out how much mounting depth they require. Any ideas?

That would be cool as the kick panels are the best location for speakerws anyway.

You might be able to use a spacer to bring the speaker foreward and away from the back, to give ya some more room too.

I could do that, but I'd like to keep the system as factory looking as possible by keeping the mids under the door panels. If I have to use a spacer, I'll have to cut a hole in the door panel and use the grills that came with the speakers. Not only doesn't that look like factory, but it looks like hell having speakers sticking out 1/2" - 3/4" out from the door.

Also, I think I now know why nobody custom makes kick panels for this car. There's really no room for them. If I were to put in a pair, the person sitting in the driver's and front passeger's seats would almost be forced to put one foot on top of the other due to a lack of foot space.

It looks like my options are down to replacing my mids with ones that don't require as much mounting depth, or using spacers. Some choice :0(

if the PG RSD fits perfect, So u will get better performance than the other comp which does n't install good.

First off, I'm trying to find out if the RSD's will fit, but no one seems to know what the mounting depth of these speakers is, and it isn't listed anywhere that I can find. I won't buy them without knowing if they'll fit or not. Secondly, how do you know the PG's will outperform the JL's? These JL's are some dam good speakers.

While getting a new car may sound crazy... It's not... I've bought new cars based on where I could put the speakers!

Checking fit guides like Crutchfield is only the first step... you have to pull the door panel and speaker and measure your available depth to really know for sure.... those fitment guides are not always accurate.
