If shooting for SPL, should you maximize cone area for constant wattage?

what 12's to what 15?

The 12s were the AA Assassin, (older single 4 ohm versions) and the sub was a RL-P 15".

Wasnt really a fair compariasion, since the 12s were sealed and the 15 was ported, plus, two different companies. The 12s were loud, and sounded great, but the 15 was exactly the same, just much louder.

The 12s ported, however, may have been a different story, but I never got around to it.
