IDQ 12 on 300 watts???

Hey guys,

New here and want to say thanks for all the hard work and effort first of all!!

I'm about to a set of components to my 12w6v2 and 500.1. I would really like to stick with one amp if possible to cut down on cost and the install. Aware that the JL 12w6 needs a lot of power, I've considered selling it for an IDQ 12.

My problem has been finding a powerful enough amp that will power the IDQ and the components. I've been looking at the Alpine PDX 5 and 4.150. Although I'm not really looking to spend this much but will if I have to. The problem is that its hard to find a 4 channel amp that does more than 300-400 bridged. Would 300 be enough to push the IDQ and be comparable to the sub/amp combo I'm currently running or should I just purchase another amp and run the comps separate? Any help would be great! Thanks, WM

300 watts will be plenty of power for the IDQ sub. ID subs are very efficient.

Will you be using the PDX 5 to run your highs and the sub, or do you have one for the highs now?

Yeah, Deja vu right! No, I do not currently have one for my highs. My goal is to stick with one amp, just trying to find the right one for the job. Now I'm considering the Arc Audio 300.4

Why not look into the id series? They are rated lower in the 250-300 range and I currently have one and think it sounds great.

Why dont you buy my Precision Power 800.5, run your whole system off that amp with a sub channel that does 400x1 and 100x4 at 2 ohms, pm me if interested its like new...

The 12w6v2 doesn't need a lot of power. It will be plenty happy with 300w. Whoever told you that it needed more doesn't know jack about making a system anything other than loud (and that's probably debatable).
