Whats the best way to run a midbass driver? Does it require you to go 3-way, or could you put the 8's in the rear doors and have 6.5's with tweets up front?

3 way....dependant upon your mid range but a midbass will do around 50 Hz - 250 Hz

I dont know what you mean by 'will be a midbass again', but certain sources are saying they are gonna re-release the IDQ8. Officially a subwoofer, but unofficially one of the best 8" midbass drivers ever made. I've heard from people at ID that this is gonna happen, this year at CES, but we'll just to wait and see. Hope they do, I need a second pair of IDQ8's.

Yeah I bought em back just before they stopped making them (had some inside info). But now Im doubting the single pair with keep up with my horns and mids (very high efficiency) so instead of moving to different midbass, Id really like to pick up a second pair of IDQ's. Midbass is directional, meaning your ears generally can determine where their sound source is. For this reason, its BEST to mount the midbass drivers up front, mingling with your other front stage speakers. There have been a couple of 'pro' setups using rear mounted midbass that worked well (particularly the Grand National), but that was many years ago and even to this day remains a much heated and debated topic.
The standard accepted mounting position when running midbass is tweets and midrange in the kicks, midbass in the doors.
