OK here is the official ruling on that Purple monster. After talking to Dirk, That is an EARLY version of the USA-200HCA during the red to blue borad transition.

In a 60's VW bus I would put some good old guitar amps (bass guitar) in the back... Get you a couple alternators, take the diodes out, and run them off the AC from the alternators.... that would be sweet... and loud....
