ID Q or ED 11Ov.2

I heard a bunch of setups this past weekend using IDMAX's and honestly, I expected a lot better SQ from the reviews I have read online. These were all strictly SQ setups, and I believe they were all sealed in various sizes. Also, they were all single setups. Maybe I am just really really picky, but there was also a car with 2 15" SS RL-p's in an IB setup, and the SQ (IMO) was much better. That guy was running Morel midranges and tweeters, with CDT ES-06+ mids in the doors, passive, as his front stage, and a Pioneer 800PRS HU. To me, his front stage didn't sound as good, but the other guys were all running Alpine 1005s with 701 combos or 9887s with 701s, and Dynaudio/Scanspeak/DLS front stages. Their mids and highs sounded a lot better, but that IB setup has made me want to go IB too. The bass just sounds so much more natural and blends with the front so much better. There was ONE setup of about 5 I auditioned, that had an IDMAX sealed, and he had it turned almost off; he also had 2 mids in each door in addition to the midranges and tweets in the kicks, and the IDMAX blended in with the front so seamlessly that I didn't even realize he had a sub. Then he turned the sub up and again it pulled the bass to the rear.

What does all this have to do with your Q question? Well if the Qs are really a baby Max like everyone says, I wouldn't go with one and I am glad I had the chance to audition the Max's before I made my sub purchase. I was pretty set on a single IDQv3, but now have pretty much decided I want to go with either 2 RL-i 10s IB or one RL-p 12 IB. Hope this helped you out, although if you liked the Max's, but they were too much, I would venture to say that a single Q would definitely be enough for you. (wow that was a lot to type for pretty much no reason, so sorry for the long read, but I'm leaving it just in case anyone else reading was wondering...).

thanks for the input bro^

i thought my max's sounded great. but i was also coming from 2 type r's

i dont need perfect sq by any means. going for more of something that can hit decent and clean. im not too picky

I absolutely LOVE my IDQ12v3, I am running it sealed in the recommended 1.0 cf sealed box with 600 watts. It is amazing to me how well the sub blends with the rest of the speakers and never overpowers them. It slams when listening to bass heavy tracks but is subtle when it needs to be. You know how some songs you sometimes want to turn the bass level down on because it doesn't blend right? Well with this sub it is like is automatically adjusts to give the right amount of seamless bass response for any given song. You feel it more than really hear it...you don't even really notice the sub on many rock tracks until you turn it off, then realize how much it was actually doing to enhance the lower end of the music. And to me, if the sub is really noticable on rock tracks, something isn't right. I want it to blend so well and be so transparent that it sounds great without making itself obvious.
