Icon vs DC lvl4

I'm sorry but I cant take the word of anybody that runs audiopipe for fact.. From what I've seen SSA is a great driver if you want more SQ then SPL.
I run ap amps because they are good power for a good price. I've clamped several of them and they do rated power all day some slightly more. Your post above shows just how much of a 2011 noob you are. But wait I'm sure your just like all the other new guys who have been on here for years and just happened to create a new account for shits and giggles

I wouldnt say noob, I had my first system back in 1995. Pheonix gold anp and 2 black magic 12s in a beat up chevette( you remember before everybody had the internet? ). I just got away from it when I had to let some luxurys go. Now I'm back and things have changed a lot

Well let's just say I run several subs that would put 2 dc lvl3s to shame. I actually think audiopipe has a better reputation for quality than dc does at this point

personally id go with the icon. the level 4 to me seems over rated my friend had one and pushing 1500rms tuned about 37hz and blew it in 3days.
I had 1400+ on mine and it was perfectly fine. Never got warm, smelled, nothing. I ran it like that daily for about a year.

Are DC subs considered SQ or SPL. will the lvl4 sub fit in the category of the made up term "SQL". Ive been told that the only subs that do this well are - fi q, aq hdc3, icon and w7(once again i've been told so thats an opinion not fact).
Depends on what sub you get, box tuning, HU tuning, etc. A ton of factors go into it.

Just buy another icon new. Dc doesn't hold a candle to ssa from what iv seen. Actually if you want a sub that's comparable to the icon look at RD audio alphas. Best made speaker I have owned and can take a ton of power
Says the guy running a cheap Audiopipe amp.

I want to know why this amp became a nuthuggers dream. Who started this ****?

I have never heard an SSA sub but I have loved all the DC subs I have owned. I had 2 lvl 4 12s on a sundown 3000 for 5+ months with no issues at all. I currently have a lvl 4 15 on on an AudioPipe 1500 and have not been able to get the sub hot.

A clamp test started it. Everyone thinks its great because it does rated power with huge amounts of distortion.
What I think is funny is that just because one amp made that "claimed" output does not mean every amp will do so as well.

I have not played with many of SSA subs at all...I do want to though..just waiting for...well I don't actually know. To cheap to buy one/two/three just to write up a review. lol

What size box is your DC in? I had mine in 4.5 net cubes tuned at 32Hz.

Thats the truth.

Thats the truth. As far as Im concerned its over rated. Perhaps if it did power cleanly it would be a different story. Not a chance in hell does it do rated power cleanly. Every singly clamp test Ive seen is never used in conjunction with an OScope to detect clipping levels.

I just can see myself putting possible dirty power on subs that cost so **** much. Personally I like to run at 2ohms, you get what you pay for when you drop the load down to 1ohm.

I bet those level 4s where hammers on that kind of power.

I own 6 amps. One being a crossfire 4k. The only reason I'm running the ap amps is because I don't have the electrical right now to properly run my larger amps

I guess I fail to see how owning 6 amps directly relates to your statement in question. Your running Audiopipe and then claim DC doesnt hold a candle to SSA.
