Which sub is better and why? I fell in love with the sq of the icon. i want to run a pair of 12's but cant find another 12" icon. a bunch of people are selling DC subs so i just wanna know if the lvl4's are any good and how they compare to the icon for daily use. I like low tuning and plan on running 1000 rms to each sub.

They are different subs, you need to define what your goals are then the "which is better" for your needs can be picked. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just play music Bro. I like loud music in my ride that hits the low notes( reggae & rap music with a epicenter). I don't compete or anything. I have 2 memphis big belles and I want two nice 12's. I 've tried a bunch of different subs over the last few months and out of all the Icon 15" ported at 28 just blows me away in every way possible. I'm just looking for a sub that I can buy right now that sounds like an SSA Icon. Oh and I also love telling my friends who think JL rules "no thats not a w7". Not a hatter just like being different.

If your "freind was running 1500 watts to a 1000 watt sub" it might blow... Also I want to know this "reason"

Mine are ******.. Taking 700-800 easy
true i may have mixed the specs up. but surely how highly everyone speaks of them they can take 500 more watts. i mean my aq hdc3 18 is rated 2000 max but im pushing like 2500watts rms through it and ive smelled it 1 time playing at like 28hz for a bit

Its like anything else, if you over do it it will blow.. If your smart about it and its clean power with the electrical to back it up it will be fine

Just buy another icon new. Dc doesn't hold a candle to ssa from what iv seen. Actually if you want a sub that's comparable to the icon look at RD audio alphas. Best made speaker I have owned and can take a ton of power

Are DC subs considered SQ or SPL. will the lvl4 sub fit in the category of the made up term "SQL". Ive been told that the only subs that do this well are - fi q, aq hdc3, icon and w7(once again i've been told so thats an opinion not fact).

I'll have to check that out. Thanks and I'll also offer you a 10% finders fee if you can find me a new or used icon d2 12" for sale today.

I'm sorry but I cant take the word of anybody that runs audiopipe for fact.. From what I've seen SSA is a great driver if you want more SQ then SPL.
