i just got my amp install sunday in the back of an 08 tahoe. the amp shut off after about 30min of playing. i let it rest for a few min and it came back on playing normal again. didnt try to let it play constant again yet. what could cause the amp to shut off (heat) or what.

I doubt its heat. Sounds like its not getting enough juice. What is your electric like, and what is the amp wired down to?

the amp is wire 1ohm. i got stock 160amp alt. the volt meter shows i am at 13.5 to 14.2 the arc 300.4 is still playing while the ia20.1 shuts off.

too low of load for the amp or not sufficient input power

have you checked the load on the speaker input with a DMM and recheck your RCAs again.

the load was check on the dmm and is a 1ohm load sub. havent check the rca yet though

Do that, I dont see why its cutting out if the other amp is playing. Try unhooked the other amp, and just leave the IA 20.1 one and see if that makes a difference.

Yeah just do try and error. Something is right, what I dunno. Check yours RCA's, Power wire, hell, even the remote wire. Or if you could find someone with a system, try it in theirs

Something is wrong even with a stock electrical in a 08 tahoe the 20.1 shouldn't shutoff @ 1ohm, make sure you check for shorts including rca's and tinsel leads, maybe try swapping it in a buddy's ride or placing it on a test bench and seeing if the problem still exists.

did you check the voltage while the amp is playing hard. these amps are just about bullitproof. you must have bad voltage problem. the amp will play at .25ohms so i kinda doubt that it is low imp.
