It's a dual .7ohm coil (actually, a quad 1.4 ohm coil with coils offset 90degrees and paralleled)...

One coil had a break in it, totally gone... another coil was about to go. So... it was already ****ed...

hmmm, thats interesting, care to explain why? also, if you car was loudest at 50hz, couldnt you just buy like a 2000 watt power inverter and use it for burps instead of an amp to save a lot of money?

Because wall socket electiricty is AC, and, for whatever reasons, the guys that decide this stuff made 50 and 60hz the speed at which it cycles.
The inverter thing could work.. the only problem is that most inverters are incredibly overated. An inverter that could create 2000w would require an IMPRESSIVE step-up transformer (read as: expensive). Something like this is a starting point...

edit: oh yeah, i forgot, inverters that create that much power can actually be more expensive than car audio amps (which are far more useful for creating a range of sounds... an inverter is kind of limited.)

It needed a recone before i did this. coils were rubbing and only 3 of the 4 coils worked

how much for the motor?

yeah there's plenty of them, a friend of mine had his MT"s on a wall socket overnight to help them wear in.
