Ok so i was planing on getting 3 12" IA 187s and i just found 4 10" Planet Audio Zetars guy had them running a sundown 1500 @ 1ohm so i know they will be able to take my Hifonics @ 1ohm with no problem what im wondering is should i go with the 10s because more cone area and because there will be a 1ohm load on my amp opposed to a 1.34ohm with the 12s which would mean a little more power to the 10s or should i go with the 12s because there IA?

i know no one can know which ones will be louder hence im not asking that im just asking which should i go with in my car 3 12s or 4 10s?

IA FTW! It's really a no-brainer. IA is dedicated to building incredibly reliable, LOUD, subwoofers that still sound good. And if you purchase an IA sub you're actually helping a few guys out instead of allowing the VP of PA to pad his expense account a little more.

The Zetars will surprise the hell out of you though, I know they are loud. It just ***** because I have not seen anyone else that has used them before which is making it hard to sell them...

Im not sure what you listen to most of the time, but after running the zetars, I would use them more for rock music and some rap personally. If you want lows, they'll need to be ported. They are very accurate and tight sounding subs in a sealed box, but on the when you crank it, they will wang hard for 4 10"s sealed.

Never owned anything planet audio. But I hear they make good products. Now IA I have owned alot of there stuff. I have had 6 IA 187's and 1 1st gen Death penalty. Great products and very impressive

three 12's have more cone area than 4 10's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

well i listen to just rap and maybe some test tones when i feel like showing off but id be putting them in a sealed box.

the main reason im really asking this is because i dont really care about who makes them iv heard alot of Planet Audio stuff out here and it sound alright atleast the newer 12s i had heard the had some good SQ but still got loud when ported but with the 3 12s id be running at 1.34ohm off my amp and with the 3 10s id be running a 1ohm load so really with the 10s ill get a little more power and cone area but with the 12s iv wanted to try some IA subs but idk weather i should wait i want to get there 21" and make a wall.

oh my.

10" Subwoofer (average) = Sd: 310cm^2 | 310cm^2

12" Subwoofer (average) = Sd: 481cm^2 | 481cm^2

The SD of the speaker is what you want to look at. In this case, the 12's are gonna have more cone area.

weeeeeeell excuse me for using basic math i dont know all the tecnical math IMO i belive 4 10s would be louder than 3 12s when the 10s have more power and IMO more is always better

If you want good SQ the Planets are a good choice, If you want ported they should still do well, i never had them ported. Sealed will wang hard though with 4 of them.

plus you will get more power out of your amp at 1 ohm instead of 1.34.

are we talking about planet audio zetars of today or the ones from like 5 years ago. the zetars from 5 years ago are some bad ass subs. the ones of today are kinda cheap.

more is not always better. Just stuffing a trunk / suv with woofers IS NOT going to be louder then less subs in the CORRECT install. The 10's in this case would most likely handle to power better per say. More coil = usually more power handling thermally

my point exactly thats what the main question was about the amp load but i guess everyone wants to change the subject of the thread and not give me a complete awnser i see people perfer IA over PA because id be helping a little guy out but IMO i really dont care about helping a little company out if ints not going to be louder than a bigger company im looking for the most for my buck
