I cannot believe this I had a kicker zx500.1 pushing 2 12 mtx7500 (sledgehammer box) and it sounded good.

Saved some money and bought Alpine MRP-M1000 and ran it at 2ohms to the woofer yes hocked up the speaker to 2 ohms (double checked with multi meter) and the amp ***** yes more watts but SQ ***** on this amplifier.

I was getting more SQ from my kicker !

So No mas to Alpine

The OLd school Alpines were, and still are BA compared to the new,even better in SQ, along with Power than alot of amps today.Have you checked out any new SSTREAMS?? Rock Solid amps, and the specs are fantastic!! Just a suggestion before you get a Kicker

Cant beat the SQ of the Old school Alpine Duo-B amps.30x2 is more like a 50-75x2, and clean clear and loud,

We messed with it to the tune of 3 hours trying to get it right ! IMO its not the settings but you could be right Do you have a particular method on setting the gains?

Avoid soundstream... they havent been a good brand in 15 years or so. Just power accoustic with a plastic spider on it.

I think you're doing something wrong. The Alpine amps are nothing special, but it shouldn't be dramatically worse than kicker.

My guess is your electrical was better suited for 500 Watts not 1000
