I think speakers are cancelling out each other??

I have a recent problem with my rear speakers in my car. I bought some polk db690s and amped them a few months ago and they sounded nice. But now its getting cold outside and they are starting to sound weird. They now have a really good lack of midbass and bass what so ever. If I turn one of the speakers off then it plays good and normally with good bass but if I turn the other one back on then they loose all there bass and midbass which is weird. Same thing happens if I switch which speakers I cut off. I have done nothing to the amp...nothing to the speakers. It just started happening out of no where one day. Whats going wrong??

There's a very good chance that the cold is killing your midbass response, it does in my car until I get the cabin nice and warm. But just out of curiosity, where are they mounted? Are they on like the rear deck of the car? Or in the back panels facing each other?

On the rear panel deck. I didnt have any loss of midbass response for the months they were installed until I started the car up on a certain cold *** night. Ive also driven the car for 30 mins and midbass did not pick up a bit. Lately with wind chills it been around -10 here but still 30 mins of play should warm them up enough. Also if it was really the cold wouldnt the speakers still sound the same and not better when I cut one of them off and only play the other? Bass response picks up alot once I do that but if I play both I loose all my bass response.

Had the same problem with some dB650's in the GF's car. They also sort of distorted at times. My issue was I used a few wire ties to attach the wire to the speaker basket. NO idea what it was doing as nothing had rubbed through and it didn't interfere with the excursion of the cone, but when I cut them off, the speakers played fine again. They played fine for a few weeks then started acting up.

Maybe it was hitting the tinsel leads or something. Try wiggling the wiring by the speaker while they're playing...

Ok then I think I know my problem then. My speaker connector broke off a couple of weeks ago from me trying to put a connector slide onto it and I had to use other methods of connecting the wire to the part thats left and that may be it. I will go check into it as soon as it warms up some lol.

Dur.. you probably wired them up wrong. Good one noob.
no the slide connectors I got were the same size of the connectors on the speakers so its impossible to mix them up and did u not read me say I havent touched the speakers or the amp in months??? Are you deaf you ****ing retard dont call me names if you dont know the full story or even bother to read what I say first.

I see conflicting stories here... get your sh1t straight, then come back and ask a question. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I didnt know re-attaching a speaker wire constituted as a change that could affect the performance of the speaker. Which it seems you want specific details didnt change a ****ing thing..

Once again, conflicting stories...

The small detail that "didn't change a thing" could be your entire problem, according to you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok so lets clear up what "other methods" means... It means I resoldered the metal peice that broke off back to the speaker and reconnected the slider connector back onto the metal. The speaker then proceeded to play as normally as it did before the connector piece broke off. This configuration was left as it is...and still is as I type from that point up to the point where I suddenly loose all my midbass. My amp has not been touched at all and all that was done to the speaker was the resoldering of a metal connector back onto a speaker which did not change the output until a certain cold day comes by. So honestly if you still think its a **** up on my part and im a ****ing noob then come check out my system yourself and tell me that this shit isnt hooked up properly....I know how to ****ing tell the difference between a positive wire and a negative wire and which connector there suppose to be attached to. It isnt rocket science. I came on this forum to see if theres anything weather related or something that could affect the output but yet I get the nerdy asswipes that want to say I got this shit wired wrong when I specifically said that I did not touch the wiring when this suddenly happened.

So how about you take your "fail" and try to make yourself feel "better" off someone else stupidity.

Sounds like your speakers are fubar'ed. Do you have any other speakers you can try in their place? If not pull them out and replace them. It sure seams like the vc on one may be blown or partially blow. Also try reversing the phase on one side, if that fixes the problem maybe you crossed wires somewhere along the way when you "didn't" touch them.
