could this be the cause?!?!?

ok, look where it's burnt-- both spots (on the cover and the circuit board), it left marks, so you can tell which way the cover was on when it blew.

now look at that white square on the cover of the amp-- it's plastic, and from my crude knowledge of electricity, it looks like it would prevent that orange/red metal spool looking thing from touching the metal cover... it lines up perfectly with it.

BUT if you look at the picture and line up the burn marks-- the plsatic patch was NOT lined up with the metal spool thing!

meaning that spool thing could have tapped the metal cover causing a short??????

so if this is the case, the install guy opened it up to see why it wasn't working, put the cover back on-- backwards-- and killed the thing.

yeah if the coil grounded it out I would expect it to be burnt up. The wire on those coils also is coated.

I am not sure what would have happened to this (i had a kenwood amp that did the same thing when it had some water spilt into the fan opening) you might be able tog et away with just replacing the fets .. but it looks like some of the resistors are toast too.
