I think i blew one of the tweeters on the a/d/s 346cs speakers.

what are some good suggestions for component speakers for a (tl 2006)? ...im looking to pay around 250.

(Preferably diamond audio just to match my brands, but im open to mix too)

JL Cleansweep

hifonic brutus 1606D

Kicker Amp 4channel ZX.650.4

a/d/s 346cs 6.5 component speakers (one of the tweeter is blown)

Diamond Audio 6.5 Hi End Coaxial D661i speakers

Diamond Audio 15" D9 Dual 2ohm

Those ADs speakers are pretty good. I don't remember if those are their top of the line set, I think they have two lines of components.

Look at the new Precision Power 356cs ...they are a step up from the ADS. Same parent company (Directed). The tweeters may be the same... you could save the good ADS tweeter for replacement parts.

Not sure why you blew them though, perhaps you might want to fix that problem before you put a new set in. Do you have enough power or were you clipping the amp?

Since you like Diamond, they do have a higher power handling set, the D9 - but check the size before you buy... they might be more like an over-sized 6.5", might be 6.75 or 7".

The ADS can handle 20-125 watts......i dont know which source is correct, but some sites say i should have 125 watts rms, and some sites say i need 150 watts rms...

the website says 20-125 watts...but it doesn't have a rms number so i dont know what that means..

Kicker Amp 4channel ZX.650.4

# RMS Power Ratings: 120 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms

# RMS Power Ratings: 170 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms

# RMS Power Ratings: 325 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms Bridged

or maybe a better question to ask... how do i know if my tweeter is blown, what are the characteristics?

-I have static at mid-high volume from one of the tweeters...is this one of the characteristic?

I believe the speaker rating is RMS. But that maybe just a general rating... plus, true ratings depend on installation and system tuning.

Some of the Kicker amps are underated... I was looking at one last week that was rated for 760 watts... looked like some parts of it were built for 1200 watts.

Sounds like they are over-powered... but better to be over-powered than under-powered. Try to take it easy on the volume knob or buy a higher power set.

But cars are brutal environments for high end stereos... I blow stuff every few years also. I think it comes with the territory.

Almani also has a high power set, the 7 series, might be less expensive than Diamond D9. I don't know where to buy them though... might be special order. I'm sure the diamond are at least a little better though. I'm going to be testing some Almani speakers in the coming month... they might be a good bang for the buck at the prices they are going for.

- Temporarily switch the tweeters or amp channels and see what the other one sounds like.

they are certificate 750 watts rms ...well at least thats what the kicker paper says

dang d9 speakers are retailed 1200 bucks wow.......does anyone know if D6 speakers are better than the ADS 346cs?
D9s are on ebay for 400-500 bucks.Never heard em though...

D6s,keep on walkin, not that impressive..Same goes for HEX.

Crystals,150-160 bucks, worth triple in SQ IMO

Not sure what your budget is. If you tested and the tweeter is blown then you might take lookat some any of these.

Pioneer 720PRS, Rainbow SLC, PG RSd, PG Ti Elite, CDT HD series.

If you can find some Crystals good choice just **** hard to find now. The Aura MR62 are awsome. I have not heard the Precision Power 356cs but heard good things.

Also read a review on the Lanzar Optidrive 6.5 comps they may be the new bang for the buck for about $110.00-$130.00. Darn nice looking set.

You can see them here.

My budget range is 200ish...

Are the Lanzar Optidrive 6.5 comps better than my old ADS 346cs? I, in no means, want to downgrade. Thanks!

The "cs" versions are a DEI product not something from the original a/d/s company. Decent none the less, the tweeters can be fixed by replacing the diaphrams. DEI should be able to fix you up with a new or repaired tweeter.
