i SCREWED up badly building my box, slot port 2 big! can I make 2 smaller?

So I pretty much just ended what I thought was a perfect enclosure build with a lot of swearing and frowning.

I was building a box for 2 Audioqie SDC 2.5's, have a drawing all made out and everything spec'd perfectly, got the box built about 30 min ago and never thought to think exactly how far back my port went back into the middle of my box, to far, subs no longer have enough room.

SO... my question...

The box is very close to 8 cubes NET internal, I was told by audioque to have 128" of port area, 16" long. So I did 12.25" (internal height of my box) X 10.50" and ofcourse 16" deep.

Now since that dont work, I wanna make 2 ports on the side of the box and they will both have to be "L" shaped to get the subs to fit where I want them

So can I simply pretty much cut my port down the middle, and make each one 12.25" tall and 5.25" wide with an overall length of 16"......

would that still give me the same tuning frequency?

So how would I figure out the length of 2 slot ports then to give me the same frequeuncy, I thought you could always just split it in half.

And double baffle would do nothing, as I already have that, its that the port goes all the way back to where the subwoofer cutouts would be, completely blocking the subs lol, stupid

I have ALOT of pics, but there useless now, box will be completely different.

I dont get why the ports have to be LONGER even when the area would be the same, I dont get why the length would change.

But thanks for doing the math, whatd u use?

my abacus

was just curious if that offended u or anything, Id just like to have the right tune for this box since I spent a good bit on equipment this time around. 5.25" X 12.25 X 21" (2 of them) sounds good though

Since my box is 49" wide at the front, i guess I could simply put a slot port on each end, each L shaped towards the center of the box and they would still be a good distance apart from eachother and wouldnt take up very much room,,,, hell this is a better design than my first one!

thanks alot.

i wasn't offended...i'm not a pro...but that formula i posted is correct i do believe.

wow, you guys wanna hear about customer service, DJ @ audioque already replied to my email and did the math for me aswell and came up with roughly the same #'s. I wrote him an email, then posted this question here, rolled n smoked a quick pinner with my friend and he had already replied and did the tech for my question...

just thought that was kinda cool, and btw, DJ said 20.5" to get 37-38hz.

Nice job thanks alot
