I need some help on tuning my subs and frequencies

Okay, in my 97 Camry LE, I have the following:

CDT EF-61 w/ 1" silk dome tweets

Aura RPM2000 150Wx2

Alpine CDE-9852 w/o sub preouts

Alpine 12" SWR-1242D Type-R RMS is 500W, peak is 1500W, dual voice coil 4-ohms

Infinity ref1600a 400Wx1 @ 4-ohms

Some Q-Logic 12" vented/sealed enclosure 1.25 cu ft@ 35hz according to specs.

My Aura amp powers my front CDT comps, and the Infinity mono block powers the sub. My rear speakers are just powered by HU, but I turned them off now.

My Aura amp runs directly to the HU and to the battery, but now my infinity amp is powered directly to the battery and takes the 'output' connections from the Aura amp for sound.

My Aura amp has settings for HP, LP, and full, of course I set it to HP now because I have a sub, correct? My Infinity amp does not have those settings, it only has 10db bass boost and gain settings and lp frequency, ranging from 32hz to 320hz

My HU has settings that allow me to change bass and treble frequencies.

Now, I need some helping setting frequencies for everything. The infinity amp only pushes out 400W@4ohms RMS, while my alpine requires 500W@dual 4-ohms, does that mean I'm technically only powering it 200W@dual 4-ohms? Should I set the infinity amp to full output and bass boost, because it's not going to distort because it's not getting much power anyways.

What should my LP settings on my infinity amp be at? 80hz? What about frequencies for my alpine HU for bass (1 (narrow) to 4(wide), and freq @ 60hz, 80hz, 100hz, 120hz) and treble(7.5khz, 10khz, 12.5khz, 15khz)? The type of music I typically listen to ranges from techno, trance, and some r&b and rap.

Last one, also, I'm supposed to point the sub to the rear of the car and closer to the rear of the car too right?

I know this is a tough question to answer, and most would just say play around with it or use search, but what's a proper setting for an round about answer?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Im pretty interested in this too..becuase now i have some questions tunning a amp for front stage. But for you ill try to answer what i can...

what you did with your 2 amps was bridge it from the aura to the infintiy via rca cabless. so your infinity is gettin the signal from the aura amp besides directly from the head unit. i dont know if thats a good idea, i know you can do that but i think an expert will tell you the pros and cons of this.

i run 2 pairs of rcas 1 for the front stage for front stage amp and 1 for the sub sub amp.

if your front stage can handle it you can probabaly set the Setting on your aura amp too Full...meaning it gets a decent amount of bass and the x-overs dont keep all the bass out of your speakers in the front stage, yet if u have x-overs for the comps they will keep the bass out the tweater.

But i dont really know about tunning the frequencies for front stage amp..so im relyin on other replies lol

For the sub...i hear its not a good idea to max out your gains to get more out of your amp cause they can send bad signals. Underpowering if you will. but maybe u can get a better amp that can over power your subs so you can send good clean power to your subs. i dont like maxing out my gains..ill keep my lpf around 3/4 and my gain between 1/2 and 3/4 for my subs...

First off, your sub has two 4-ohm voice coils. There are 3 ways to wire a DVC sub:

1. Wire the 2 coils in series, creating a single 8-ohm load

2. Wire the 2 coils in parallel, creating a single 2-ohm load

3. Wire each coil to a seperate channel on a multi-channel amp, creating two 4-ohm loads.

#2 is what you want. Your Infinity Reference 1600a amp is rated for 600W RMS @ 2 ohms.

As for what to set the crossover points to, I personally like to set the HP for the mids and the LP for the sub to be the same frequency. I like to set it as low as possible, but just high enough so the front speakers don't distort from the low frequencies. Try starting at 100 Hz and move down until you hear distortion in the front speakers, then bump it back up until it's gone.

As for your bass and treble controls, I don't know.
