I need some expert advice with buying an amp to run 2 Pioneer 6x9's (440watt peak 80watt RMS) and one Massive Audio 8" dual voice coil sub (600watt peak 300watt RMS) wired serial @ 8ohms.
Jbl gto3ez, or get a 5 channel amp and bridge the 4 channels to the 6x9's and run the sub at 2 ohms on the sub channel. Jbl is a little bad azz amp for mild systems
I'm looking at a PPI amp for $109 on feeBay. Won't dropping the sub to 2 ohms increase it's RMS power?
Okay.....here's the deal. I'm a total idiot regarding car sound systems with a sub thrown in the mix. I'm trying to install a sound system in my 1989 Toyota pickup and wanted to see what a sub would do for the sound. That's why I fired off a signal flare for help.
No the power handling of the sub wont change but running it at 2 ohm you can get the power out of a smaller amp if at 8 ohm you would need a bigger amp then needed at 2 ohm.
Like Gary said that 5 channel would probably do good if not a nice 4 channel and a small mono amp would do perfect
I already wired the sub for an 8 ohm load. Do you have any suggestions for other amps that you think might be better. As most people these days, I'm on a tight budget. So, my price range is $150 max.
Thanks to all that replied to my post. I'm going to get this amp, that way I can leave the sub at 8 ohms and not be drowned out by the sub in the cab of my small pickup.
