I need some advice whether to wire in series or parallel...TIA

I have the RF 551s amp which runs 550w stable bridged at 4ohms. My sub is a solobaric L7 4ohm DVC. If I run it in series it will create an impedence of 8ohms, will that make it not as powerful, or significantly not as powerful?

Should I spend the $30 bucks to send it back and get the 2ohm DVC version so I can run it in series and create an inpedence of 4ohms?

Why dont you just try running each voice coil to its own channel first. Ive heard this suggested before in your situation.
The problem with doing that is he'll only get around 125 watts per coil which would be the same amount as bridging it.

137.5 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS

275 W X 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS

550 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS

Definetly send it back for the dual 2 ohm if you are going to only run one of them. The 550 will be enough to get good punch out of that sub but you'll need all 550 of it.
