I Need Help!!

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 with the monsoon sound system in it. I recently visited tweeter and found out that in order to wire a new head unit with the monsoon sound system it would cost like another $250 additional to the head unit. I want one that i can hook up my ipod to ( Head Unit) and am trying to find out the best thing to do... Any ideas?

it is no different from any other deck...if you don't care about door bells beeping in your front car speakeryou can get a wiring harness for about $10.00 the only thing you'll have to run the turn on lead (red wire) to a fuse that comes on with the ignition...there is no ignition wire in the factory harness....I'm assuming you have the newer Monsoon system since the older ones work with the classic GM harness with no probs...if you like the blaring door bell you can buy a wiring kit for around $50 and keep the door chime.....
