hey guys, well im kinda new at this so im shooting in the dark lol. well anyway i want to run 8 jl audio 13w7 subs but i cant find an amplifier(s) that will run those. they run at 1000W each optimum output. any suggestions?

well i dont have my car yet but it will be a custom box taht will take the whole trunk. yes 8, go big or go home right?
8's arent big //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Vented? Does your trunk look like this?

I don't mean to be offensive, but I don't quite understand what you mean to accomplish by pushing 8 13W7's. Yes, it will have the wow factor, but that's a lot of money/fabrication/time simply for the wow factor.

If you want pure sound quality, then you should cut it down to 1 or 2 subs in a excellent box and move to some other brand (ie ID, Seas, etc.....). Chances are with 8 subs you are going to have cancellation issues which could make a sq install even harder.

If you want all out sound pressure level, then you will theoretically only gain 6db moving from 2 subs to 8 subs (20*log(intensity), where intensity quadruples). Also, there are much better SPL subs out there (RE MT, FI BTL, DD......). Also, any SPL competitor will tell you how important the enclosure is. There are people who can hit > 150dB with a single 10" sub (exceptional enclosure and lots of tuning time).

Also, the installation for 8, 13" subs is going to ****. The amount of air space required to run that many subs is going to be huge. I don't think that would be possible in any car. If you go to an SUV then you can expect to lose at least one row of seats. Remember you need a place to put your amps and extra batteries too!

As for your amplifier problem... Some suggestions include several IA 20.1, US Amps MD3D, Sundown 1500D, Orion 5000D....etc. Expect that to cost you around 2000 bucks. To run that much power you will need several additional batteries (probably around $1000), at least 1 300A HO alternator (another 3-400 bucks or about 1000 if you need 2 alternators), several hundred feet of 1/0 wire ($2-7 foot)... You do the math, this project will cost you a fortune.

So, where does that leave you? Well, I think you should reconsider your plan. Do some serious reading on the sub/electrical/amp forums. If you want a loud, clean daily driver go buy 1 or 2 SQL woofers (FI BL, older RE XXX, SI Mag.....), have somebody design you a good ported box, power the sub(s) on 1 of the above amps, get an extra battery, high output alternator, some Raammat/Second Skin (sound deadening) and call it a day. That will cost you 1200-1500 bucks vs the like $10 grand you will need to run 8 W7's. That's my two cents.

They are dual 1.5 coils... in parallel you have 0.75 ohms. You could run a Sundown SAZ-1500D on each subwoofer and be fully covered by warranty and get about 1700 watts per woofer at 12.8 volts. Send me a PM if you have any questions about them.
