OK my Viper amp and my sub was just installed to my factory head unit today. We played it for just alittle while and everything was perfect but from that short time we played the sub the amp was extremely hot and when I turn the amp on it keeps clicking from "Power" to "Protection" mode. Any ideas?

Turn down the bass boost and the gain.

Ensure the sub/s are providing the correct load to the amp.

Well if its impedance rise? Shouldn't it only go up? Then there shouldn't be a problem if its at 1 ohm, cause its not like its going to have a problem at a higher resistance.

I mean that your subs and your box may have a greater impedance rise then the next guys giving less stress to your amp.

Even if we both had are amps at 1 ohm, and my box had a lot of impedance rise and his had little. it still shouldn't cause a problem cause its going to be above 1 ohm?

Well it gets a little tricky and confusing because it doesn't always go up, it will actually go down at certain notes depending on the box and the sub and trigger the amp to go into protection, the amount the impedance goes up and goes down and how often they do either is called "impendance rise".

Basically without doing a bunch of calculations its a crapshoot, sometimes it works and somtimes it won't.

I've seen 4 ohm speaker loads trigger good amps to go into protection mode just because of the speaker enclosure and sub combo.(this shit keeps me up at night just thinking about it)

ok cool. I had no idea that it can go down as well. Thanks for teaching me something new. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif DO you mind explaining what in a box would make the ohms change?

Thank you all for the help. I remember my friend did turn the bass boost and gain up alot so I have them turned down now but I have one more problem.

The remote turn on would light up but the amp would not turn on so we checked the fuse under the hood and it was blown. My ground and power wires had fell out of the amp so my friend said it blew because my ground and power wire touched. So...... we went to change the fuse under the hood and as soon as we put the fuse in it blew instantly. I think the car and the remote was on when we changed the fuse, could that have been the problem? I really need you guys help, I'm going to buy another fuse in the morning but I'm scared that it will blow instantly again.
