i need help picking an amp

ok i'm gonna be getting 1 15" type r.... my budget is about $250 for an amp, what should i buy? i was thinking maybe a hifonics?

Hifonics are partially reliable, but you can do better, and they are over rated.

How about a Pheonix Gold 8.0:1? It will give your Type R around 800w, if you get the DVC 4 ohm model.

why do you need that much power? don't go hifonics. i'd look into a kicker kx600.1

That much power on a single Type R will be risky if you do not know what you are doing... You do not need that much power for it to sound good and get loud.

it could probably handle 1000 watts, but that doesn't mean you have to give it that to get the most out of it. build a good ported enclosure and feed it 700-800 watts rms and you should be good. a kicker kx600.1 will do about 700 watts rms at 2 ohms.

if you are gonna go PG i recommend the xenon instead of the octane-r. the xenon 600.1 will work well. also there was only vote for kicker. i just voted twice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yes. very good. if you got a chance to get one that has the correct power and is in your budget then go for it.

If you want that type of power then go with a viper 1200 or directed 1100. Each will do rms and maybe a little more and you can find them in your price range.

I have a vote for the Kicker KX600.1. Great, strong, reliable amps!

The Octane 8.0:1 its rated 800wmax and only 500wrms... that means he'll be giving the type r something like 500rms which is not bad but is not the best.

how about mtx or jbl? do they make quality amps? that's all i'm looking for, a quality amp that can get loud for around $250.

so far i'm considering cadence, phoenix gold, kicker, and orion.
