I need help on amps

Hey right now I have a JL 13w6 with the JL HD900 amp. I plan on getting a second 13w6 and plan on building a nice enclosure for it. I've always gotten my subs and amps from a local store and its the only one around within a reasonable distance. I want to make sure I'm getting the right amp. would I just couple the new 13w6 with another HD900? thanks

also I'm running on a stock battery and stock alternator. I think I'll probably have to get a bigger battery. any suggestions?

If you stick with that setup and run two separate amps you will have to gain match them or the enclosure will need to be two separate chambers. If you can swing it I would probably get a large enough Class D amp to handle both subs and the battery situation will really depend on total wattage you are running and if you have things like the BIG 3 and GOOD wire feeding the amps. I am running about 2000 watts total in mine and 0 ga wire and I had to add a small car audio battery to help with voltage drop. Good Luck

wait what are the BIG 3? sorry for the ignorance. I'm just getting into doing the car audio stuff for myself.
The BIG 3 is where you upgrade the 3 main wires under the hood of your car. Most people leave the car's existing ones and just add another one along with it. There should be at least 2 grounds under hood. One connects battery negative to frame and the other connects between engine block and body usually. The 3rd wire is the one coming from the alternator over to battery positive. On all three of these use at least the same wire size that feeds your audio system and fuse the one between the alternator and battery. The BIG 3 will help tremendously with voltage drop issues and sometimes light dimming.. You have to remember a chain is only as strong as its weakest link......

Okay thanks for that. So I was looking around for amps that would power two 13w6's and found the HD1200 from JL audio. would that be enough to power both subs? Now if I use the same amp for both subs would I be able to connect the boxes instead of building two separate ported boxes? thanks

Yes....using that amp will allow you to build a NICE single chamber ported enclosure and ROCK ON!!......As long as your final ohm load matches with amplifier you are using.
