Confined to Reality......
Hi everyone,

As a few of you might know I just picked up a set of Kicker 12" CVRs and got everything hooked up and my little pos amp I had them on almost caught fire... I opened it up to make sure it wasn't on fire and it was just fried a chip where it looks like the heat spreader connects (just bought it too like 2 weeks ago too) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif, but nothing else was damaged but it smells bad in my trunk now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif, but this leaves a gap in my system to fill, and my choice in amps is obviously poor so can anyone here recommend me an amp to power those subs, I am on a limited budget I would like to stay under $100 shipped, but if the perfect amp for these speakers that is a little more I am willing to do so.

Also please include links to the products because I still don't know of a good site to buy car audio stuff from.

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

hey man what ohm are you running those speakers at? It will be tuff to find 800rms for under $100 you will probably have to buy used for that price. You can always check ebay for cheap stuff though. We must know what ohm you are running the speakers at to correctly find a good amp.

The 800 watt rating is a "MAX" or "Peak" rating. Judging by the price I would say you would get around 300 - 400 watts RMS tops from that amp at a reasonable distortion level. Quite simply... you will not get 800 RMS for under 100 bucks unless you buy used.

OK then I think I am going to have to wait till I can afford a more $ amp so I don't waste my money on the cheap shit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif that is probably why the first one fried lol

So what AMP should I buy for those woofers?

I think I need to do more research on what subs I have, I think my friend didn't even know what subs he sold me. Thanks for all the help but I have to figure exactly what I have before I post again.

I can help you a good amount, take pics of your subs from the side, back, and top send them to me and I will tell you what they are, also they should say somewhere on the basket or motor D2 or D4 which means they are dual voice coil 2ohm or dual voice coil 4 ohm and that info will greatly help us

Well if you have, or can get your hands on a multimeter that would make it easy as well, just test the coils
Yeah I will have to do that too, I have A dmm just have to figure out how to test impedance. Can you check the impedance to see what condition the subs are in? For example, would they be lower than they should be if they were miss treated? I don't think they were because the friend I bought them from takes care of his stuff, but you never know.

Man, I have an original MTX Thunder 2300 amp that would slam the piss outta those Kickers!
I also have a Total Mobile Audio T500.1 BNIB.

PM me and we'll talk.
Let me see exactly what I have and We might be talking some time soon.
