A friend of mine wants a system in his 97' explorer. He wants the new kicker comp cvr 12's. I need an amp that will push 2 of these subs. they will be in a ported box tuned to prolly 35 hertz or so. He does want to spend over $200 on the amp. any amp recomendations?

bah. just get him a pair of cheapy 2 channel profile amps. can get 450ish watts for $86\amp if you do it right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

not sure on ma ... but u would be stupid to buy two cheap profile amps to do the job that one PG amp can do when u spend almost the same amount of change.

i know you will not be disappointed with PG tho.

i must correct myself ... didnt realize that was 800 max at the time. sorry for the confusion.
my point exactally.

go with the profiles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

specially if its some kid.

if it is a mono amp say 400 rms x 1 @ 2 ohms, you have 2 subs, both 2 ohm dvc's. If you wire them parallel to send a 2 ohm load to the amp. you should get 400 watts to each sub. this is because it is only one channel amp.

P = V^2 / R. first things first V (voltage never changes). in a parallel circuit, R (resistance) doubles at the power source but not at the R source (speaker). the resistance at the speaker will never ever change. therefore, if u see a 2 ohm load at the power source (P=(V^2)/2) based on two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel those speakers are still 4 ohm and being that the voltage will not change, they will still see P = (V^2)/4. no any number divided by 2 is two times greater than a number divided by 4. and being that V never changes. wallaaaaa

second, to wire those speakers to a 2 ohm load. the voice coils of each speaker need to be wired in series first to make 4 ohm speakers, then the two speakers need to be wired in parallel to create a 2 ohm load.
