Hi everyone, I'm just getting into my car's stereo and I need some advice on an amplifier to get for around $200. I have two sony xplod 12's (380RMS, 1300Peak 4 ohms). I have nothing really special just a crappy head unit and Clarion speakers. I'm looking for a mono amp so please give me a few ideas. thanks.

In that case I wouldn't mind trying these: *JBL GTO 601.1

*Alpine MRD-M605

*MA Audio M1900XE

could I have the "true" specs on the MA? I was looking at buying the hk1998 from a site and they claimed a 1200 watt rms at 2ohms which is actually the peak. Also is it possible to wire my subs to 2 ohms? Also if an amp puts out 500x 1 is that 500 a ub or 250? thanks

That would be 250 watts rms to each sub....

And when you wire your subs, it will create a 2 ohm load.

I do have subs......would I have to wire them parallel? would that give me the 2 ohms load even though I have 2 4 ohm subs? and are those amps 2 ohm stable in MONO? thanks

Hifonics Brutus BXi1606D E-bayed can be near the 225$ mark @ 550RMS @ 4 ohms. Reliability is another question...

Phoenix Gold Xenon 400.1 = 160$; 600.1 = 250$ with roughly 625 RMS to split between your 2 subs.

if your subs are single voice coil then run parallel and u will have a 2 ohm load. for svc 4 ohm subwoofers it is best to find a MONO amplifier (1 channel) so you dont have to bridge the amp. Find an amp that puts out close to 800RMS @ 2 ohm if u want to push the subs at their RMS.

I just bought my subs and I'm not going that extreme with my car. The xplods are perfect because they're not too powerfull. I'm buying a Power Acoustik a2400db. Thanks for the help.
