I just talked to Nick and got the greenlight

iirc its silicone, and i have no idea what its there for,
i always said i know nothing of the internals or amplifiers, but there ya go.
I was just messing with you! It is there to stop stuff from vibrating and rubbing up against the toroids. I have even seen some amps use what appears to be hot glue instead of silicone!

so have i.....but i didnt know much about it.

ill become educated on what is what one day for sure...

They are installed temporarily, and moving more air than i ever expected.

I hair tricked my wife in the front seat, without her even being by the window.

they are running at .5 strapped with no problems at all, when they were 2 ohms strapped, they stayed cold, as i expected....and at .5 ohms they hardly get warm at all.

I cant wait till i get to the meter on saturday.

Sounds like the new ones are tanks like the old ones. You plan on doing any 2 for 2 testing (new vs. old) or you going straight to all 4?

Same buildhouse as Sundown? Looks to be very similar internal parts and boards, and that is a very good thing, Zenon makes amazing amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Looks great. Very compact I must say... Will probably fit almost 2 of these where the old 20.1 would fit... Nice job Nick.

The silicone is to stop the inductors from vibrating around. The silicone limits their movement to a point where vibration will not cause them to damage themselves... The "copper" wire that is wrapped around the cores, is copper, but it is coated with a clear enamel (like magnet wire for all you electro-geeks) so that even though it "looks" like it would touch the wire in the wrap next to it, electrically it cannot, insulated by the enamel coating on each strand of wire, if the wires were electrically touching each other there would be no inductance, therefore no-worky as an inductor, has to have insulated strands of wire... Enamel coating is adequate, cheaper, and much thinner than plastic, or PVC type wire insulation. The diameter of the wire is barely increased by the enamel coating therefore MORE of it can be wrapped around an iron core to form an inductor than if it were insulated by plastic or PVC coating.
