I'm making a whopping $8.06/hr working at Kohl's as a sales floor associate and a freight processing associate. It blows. I'm looking for a new job but don't know where to apply at. Southern California... any suggestions?

Nah, I was talking about bonesninja. He said he is e-6 and barely getting $2500. But im e-4 and getting a lil over that, and when I was in Iraq it was about $2980

actually i said i'm an ex-SSG i make like $60k a year now making Downy fabric softner. When i was in the army i was a SSG with 6 years in and was NOT making $2500 a month as a single soldier living on post. So no quarters allowance, no meal allowance but since i was an 18 series i made jump pay, haz. pay, everytime i crossed the ocean i got overseas and the 2 times i was in combat got combat on top of it and at my peak pay with allowances i hit like $2800. so forgive me if the 60 grand doesn't make sense to me. and base pay across ALL the services are the same. And i do keep up on current pay increases since i collect a disability check every month from them...every time the DOD gets a raise, i get a raise

Ok was. Im not questiong your opinion of the 60k that gondef makes, I was just saying its wierd that you didnt make that much. All the e-5s and e-6s here (even some e-4s like me) live off post and get BAH and BAS, which is why I was thinking how come you werent making at least $2500 a month. Now that you said you didnt get that, it makes more sense. My peak in Iraq was 2980. That was with haz and combat whatever they call all that, plus a $1300 check when we got back for per diem. Not that that matters.

yeah man...i ain't trying to start no shyt with anyone..just that the pay seemed high to me. god forbid that they should actually pay soldiers what they are worth right? My little brother is in Iraq currently for his second tour with the 101st. I served the 1st gulf then again in Haiti and again in Somalia.

I just got a $15-$30 an hour job (plus fat bonuses) being a quasi telemarketer, except I dont call random people. I never said 60k!!! LOL!!! In 2004, I made $73k and I've never been to OEF or OIF...

In 2005 I made 56K... That was base pay (e-6 under 10) with single BAH in Southern MD, BAS, and an installment on my re-enlistment bonus.

For the non-military types here is your legend:

Entitlements:

BAS = Food

BAH = Housing

Clothing = Once per year to replace uniforms

Deductions:

SGLI = Life insurance $400,000 worth

TSP = Thrift Savings Plan, kind of like a 401K retirement plan

Allotments:

Bank Acct Allot = Allotment that goes to my savings account

Summary:

Tot Ent = Total Entitlement, everything I earned

Tot Ded = Total Deduction, everything they took out, includes mid-month pay

Tot Allt = Total Allotments

Net Amt = Net Amount (Tot Ent - Tot Ded & Tot Allt)

Cr Fwd Credit forward (If they give you an advance)

EOM Pay End of month pay

I think there was a miscommunication somewhere.

What was that other thing you posted, some organization you were with or something? some group that you mentioned in the thread about survival? Back then I was confused if you were military, dod, or blackwater or what.
