I just found my future SUB!!!

That number is correct. Sean's setup is very unusual, it creates a very oddly tuned 4th order bandpass when you stick the sealed box inside the wall. I was at his place already to power test the SAZ-3000D in his truck, so we beat on the E12 as well to see what type of abuse it can really take.

You will notice I was still able to pull 140 dB in a regular car, my Civic, in a box tuned to 35 Hz.

if that really is the case, that is one impressive sub...

i love the clean simple look too...

i checked the nightshade and it does this:

811.5 watts @ 144.5 dB

1731.2 watts @ 146.9 dB

and double check the E12:

765 watts @ 146.2 dB

1399 watts @ 147.2 dB

is it just me or does the E12 seem more appealing SPL wise? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

its not impressive...

most subs will easily do 140dBs in a trunk car, tuned to around 35Hz...

pioneer 306C for example? happily take 800watt burps, cost half as much as the sub posted here...

i was talking about doing 146.2 dB's with only 765 watts...

ofcourse everythings install dependant but thats not too shabby...i'd love to see how this thing would have done in a controlled test with other known subs around its price...like a tsw3002spl, type r or rsd12...

Without looking, I would guess the setups are different. Like Jake said, putting that sealed box in that wall, created a 4th order bandpass. Im guessing the Nightshade was in a standard ported enclosure (again, I didn't check any of the info)

Also the Nightshade will be far less efficient than the E12...just the nature of most SPL subs. Look at the BTL in the 12" test session. It took the most power it get it loud, but then again, it also took 10kw.

thats understandable...but i think most people, myself included would rather get a sub that can do 150dB's with 2000 watts then a sub that can do 151.5dB's with 6000watts, just an example...god bless those people's wallets...

Seems a little too good to be true //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif That thread was started on April 1st too...hmmm.......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I disagree in regards to regular "entry level" woofers. This 140.0 dB was with a legal Term-Lab mic placement in a Civic hatch. I don't see a trunk car with an entry level woofer matching the score from my Civic without fairly substantial work to allow more bass into the cabin.

Sure... if you drop an SI Mag, FI Q, TC 3k, or something like that in a trunk... you can pull 140.0 dB no problem tuned at 35 Hz. Woofers in this class that actually sound great for listening, not so much. I'm sure it has probably happened and that is possible, but to say "most woofers" is not accurate.
