I have been away too long! What happened to Orion?!?!?!

Years ago, before some of you were born, heh, I was really into car stereos. Since then I have always upgraded the stereos in my cars, but never with anything even remotely serious. I am once again putting a new system together, slightly better than usual for me, and went looking for a replacement for my old trusty Kenwood 120x1 sub amp.

I remembered long ago Orion was some serious stuff. No, not the end all beat all, but a 2x80 Orion would hurt you, and a 2x150 almost needed reinforcement for the glass! Not to mention a 2x80 was something like $300 way back then. And their HCCA amps? You needed to take out a loan! I seriously remember running two 15"s in a small two door car with an Orion 2250 (something like a $1200 amp back then that I borrowed for a week to replace my 2150) and at half volume (with hearing protection) it pounded my chest so hard I could hardly breathe!

Now I go look at them and they offer 800 watt amps (CO8001) for $120??????? HCCAs (HCCA-10002) for $449????? What the heck?

Oh wow! Those were some serious amps in the day. I ran several of them, including that 2150 there, it was my pride and joy. Wish they were still at that level, how the mighty have fallen.

You never fail to amaze me. Every third post you make is of you talking about how you're going about your next "setup". You should have your very own thread stickied with every build you ever "planned to do" (a very loooooong thread I know). Then we could get all your nonsense congregated in one place as to make it easier to laugh at you.

And with that said, you can chalk me up to the couple hundred users on this forum who envy your collection.
