I have a question

ok i have a 350 rms watt amp
im wondering what would be better:

2 12" subs that put out 200 rms each

or

2 15" subs that put out 250 rms each
wait a minute...

youve got a 350wrms amp

2 subs that put out 200w. 2x200= 400w

2 subs that put out 250w. 2x250= 500w.

your going to be underpowering right?? if so, go with the 12"s

Subs don't "put out" RMS power, they have an RMS power handling rating.

If you bought a single 12 or 15 that was rated to handle 300 to 400 watts rms it would work well with that amp.

Now if you want to run 2 subs you need to consider the ohms of the coils and how to wire them properly to your amp.

If you run a pair, look for a rating of 150 to 200 watts rms for each sub as the 2 subs will share the 350watts from the amp.

As said above more information is needed. Is this amp a two channel amp or a four channel amp or a mono amp and more importantly how many RMS watts per channel does it have? What is the impedance rating of each channel? (2 Ohm?, 4 Ohm?). It would also be nice to know what subs you are talking about. The more information you give us the better we can help you.

But based on the information so far flakko said it best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

......dont get 2 15"s when ur amp only run around 400 rms....or ur subs wont sound as great as it can be cuz its not geting as much power....i had 2 15" on a weak amp it it sounded hollow but when i only hooked up one 15 it sounded better....i say you go with 1 12"

LOL - mine was a higher end model too - iirc deh-9300. Low mileage too, it was sitting around for year collecting dust.

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
