i have a couple choices. Can you help me out?

I will be getting $280 friday and want to spend it on audio instead of other things. My goals for upgrading are components and maybe and amp. I have a Dual (non brand name) that says it does 110rms x2 @ 4ohm, 2**rms @2 omh, and 380x1 briged. I can put this on the compoenets but its a pretty cheap amp. Should i buy good components and put it on this amp and then later upgrade an amp?

I would like to spend about $200 of the components. the rest will be for other needed equiptment. Good SQ speakers.

Buy the comps, sell the Dual amp, and save up for a better amp. OR buy a better amp now, and then hang out for the comps a while.

May I suggest The Polk MOMO 6500 series in the upper end of the spectrum (180$), or the Phoenix Gold ZR components if you don't need that much power and want to spend the money on a better amplifier. Those run about 100$ or less after shipping, and I've heard they sound great per dollar.

Then, sell the Dual, and you'd have roughly 300$ plus to buy an excellent speaker amp, such as a Diamond Audio D3400.2, or Alpine MRV-T420.

Also, I see you have a Legacy, fellow Suby owner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. You are aware fo the depth issues with your doors (front)? I'm not sure necessarily about the older model legacy's, but MY06 needed just shy of a 1" spacer made from MDF to fit my Alpine Type-R's without hitting the window.

Buy the speakers first, that's the biggest bang-for-the-buck improvement you can make. Your Dual amp will be OK on them, you can upgrade it later.

I'm in a Scoobie-ru too, '05 OBXT. Front door mount depth is an issue for us too. I barely squeezed in Focals.
