I have 2 12inch volfenhag comp subs and a 4ch amp looking for sub specs

What i have are 2 12inch volfenhags im not sure the model number but they have a wide rubber surround and are comp subs from what i could see i believe they are 1200w peak and 600 rms. kinda unsure and when i put a meter on the speaker box input i got 2.5 ohm reading so im assuming they are 2 ohm subs??? possaibly dual voice coils???.

My main question is i just picked up a 4ch rockford p450.4 for 80$ i was hoping to get most of the power out of this amp and it seemed like a good deal because ive seen used rockfords going for 150$ all day long just like this and what i had before was a cheap kenwood 1000w mono amp was putting out maybe 300w.

So i figured this rockford would be a nice upgrade so far ive only been able to hookup the front left and right channels and bridge.

i took the pos from one side of the box and the neg from the other side of the box and twisted em together then took the leftover positive and leftover neg and hooked them up to the front left pos on the amp and the neg to the front right neg.

I wanted to bridge the whole amp but from what im hearing im out of luck.

so now im out of luck it looks like ive put a meter on the wires coming out of the box and im getting 2.5 ohms

How would i wire this to somehow get 4 ohms on the front ch and 4 ohms on the rear ch

First thing, pull the subs from the box to make sure what coil configs you have

Oh my. Pull the subs and see what the coils are. You may be able to bridge two channels per sub.

2 4ohm voice coils 600w rms . I dont know how they are wired in the box but i had a kenwood kac-8101d 1000w monoblock hooked up to them before and they were pounding i had em bridged on the kenwood

if those are dual 4 ohm voice coils then you have to wire in series parallel to get a 4 ohm load to bridge that amp

If you want to get the most out of that amp, connect it to a good set of mids and use your Kenwood monoblock on the subs.

correction i have the subs wired in 80hms im getting about 7.8 ohms i was gonna wire em up with one coil but my dad said that the speakers would sound worse that thy have 2 voice coils for a reason so i have them currently wired up 8ohms from each sub going into the amp bridged one sub on the front bridged and the other sub on the rear bridged. when i first got this amp i was only using the front left and right channels.

To the last guy i dont have the kenwood i gave that and a 150s rockford away for 10$ off the price of the 4ch rockford i just picked up.

Lol the Kenwood would have been better and more power than the Rockford...also use both coils and get a diff amp sorry you will not be happy with any results no matter how you wore it until you get a new amp...or that Kenwood back

I actually like those big collered volf's, they receive bad raps mostly but they can be gotten for decently cheap and are great budget bangers. Spend some decent money on a good quality subwoofer amp and you should be very happy. I am thinking something like an AQ 1200 or around that area. Good luck!!

Ya ppl can trash the volfenhags all day but the comps i have woth the big rubber surrounds slam and ive had them for 6 months so far with out a problem they are better then pyle sony xplode and pioneer ya certain expensive models of pioneer might be better but in general vr3 power accustic and lanzar are all junk compared to these subs . and they weight alot more then sony and a few others.

Try picking up a box with 2 of these in its atleast 100lbs.

Ya the kenwood was putting out about 300w so your looking at a 80w difference going to the system and how much of the difference was clean well thats anybodys guess. im being told a rockford 500 is what i would want that i would get about 800w out of that.

I dont see any reason why i cant just wire up the subs on one coil and get 4ohms why do i have to wire up both coils i dont see any benifit to using both coils beside that fact that you can wire to amps that are not 4ohms .

i would be getting way more power then the kenwood put out. ppl trying to sell me a product will say buy amp from me or buy some subs from me
