i just went out and hooked up the tweeters to my 880PRS, so the mids are being run off my zx550.2 and i have the tweeters off of head unit power.

i'll report back in a bit, i'm gonna go listen and tweak things and see what i can do. so far it's lookin and sounding good!

so you're running ~125w to your mids and like 20 to your tweets //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Correction, maybe 12 to 15w to his tweeters. But, if it sounds good to him, so be it. Staying tuned...

Just because an amp can do a certain amount of power, doesn't mean that you always have to run that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's one of the whole points of running active in the first place...you can individually set the levels for each driver, easily and quickly.

running aqctive is the shit!!! OMG! i love it. i was a bit skepticle of running the tweeters off of the head unit but it's plenty of power and actually sounds really clean. they get plenty loud off of however many watts they are actually getting from the head unit. it was suggested to me many times by a few people over on DIYMA to try the tweets off the HU and it works great.

the RSD's work fine with the mids at 2.5k/24db and the tweets at 3.15k/24db. the tweeter handles it perfectly and i don't hear any breakup or anything out of the tweeter

crossing the mid over at 2.5k/24db took care of some mild breakup that i was beginning to hear lately as i have been listening a bit closer at higher volumes. the whole set sounds really clean now. the mid can take some abuse for sure. i have the mids playing down to 50hz/24db and they like that as well. they can take some power and sure make some pretty crazy mid-bass, even more now than before. i'd say the mids are actually seeing about 60 or so watts. my dmm was reading anywhere from around 9-16 volts a/c when i was crankin on it pretty good.

so overall so far it's workin out great. i actually am in not big rush to get the tweeters on their own amp. i will do it eventually but no rush.

Very awesome, tc! Glad running them active is even more of a positive experience than passive. Thanks for posting the results.
it's a nice step forward. so far i am pleased. i'm sure i'll be tweaking and listening more but so far so good! this set continues to amaze me, as well as the new 880PRS.

Awesome stuff! Good to know what others are using as crossover points and attenuation. Glad to see you got them going active (I'm jealous now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ). I think I am going to wait and see what the new 800prs has before I buy a new deck. Possibly the same for my amps... I might wait for the new ZX amps to show up on my accomodations before I buy. Kicker added optional endcaps to the amps and removed the red color stripe (I believe it is silver now). Unfortunately it may be a while, but I am glad to see that you have had a positive outcome.
