Ok, here is something else you need to check on, Im in Miami, and South Beach is the towing frenzy here. You may have a lien on your LIC as well, you need to chack that 1st. If there is a lien on your LIC, you have the right to pay that, and get the car back. Its not theres if there is a Lien on your LIC. If there is a lien on your LIC, then there suspended until yoo satify the tow company. If they didnt do that, you have to chack the laws in your stae. If you ran up a bill with them that was more than the car is worth, then they go after you by suspending your LIC ubtil you pay up. Now if your car was worth mopre than you bill, they went a different route. CHECK ON THIS QUICK, TIME IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE!!!!!

It appears they aren't screwing anyone over. They are (from my understanding of the situation) well within the limits of the law....and doing nothing unusual to that end. My dad worked for a shop that had a tow company aswell, and I'd say atleast 25% of the cars they towed they ended up keeping because they were never claimed or not claimed in time. It's his own fault for not paying by the required date. If he really wanted to keep the car, he would have found a way to come up with the money in time........

Yep...and if they dont want to sell it to him....thats their right to.

In this situation looks like everyone gained from him. Tow truck company got a free car, their workers got free stereo equipment, and the bank still get's paid. Sux

i`d check federal guidelines. if you really showed up the day after most likely they still have to give your car back as long as you have the money owed. there is a grace period. check the contract. in your 1st post you mention the police had to give you a release? if thats true then the 30 days wouldn`t even start untill AFTER you got the release. every1 may be saying you`re screwed. but if your 1st post is true the towing company stole you car and its contents. cant tell you you gotta wait for a release then not give it to you until after the time is up. that sounds like the cop that had it towed and the tow company have a scam going. contact some1. some1 higher up the food chain. odds are its not the 1st time. unless you`re leaving something out.
