I got ***** by a local mail office.

Rounding up is normal, All of the services do the same thing.

If you want the lowest prices ship online at Fedex.com you just have to setup an account with a CC and do the paper work online, then drop it at a pickup location.

Also about $8 is the least you can get by with paying for gound service.

Ok well i like to keep to shop at mom and pop stores trying to help them out but ive had it.
This local place which i wont say the name but they ship fedex, ups, and USPS and they tell you the rates of all the places which is cool and the problem is, they jack up the weight of your item.

I shipped a kicker distrobution block today it weighed 10oz with the padded envelope i bought from them for a dollar.

He charged as it weighed 16oz!

I paid 8.55 to ship a 10oz item to the next state over using priority!!!

It was $12 to ship it ups ground //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I shipped an amp through him that weighed 21lb and he jacked it up a lb.... Causing me to pay 24 to ship the amp IN THE SAME STATE!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

So am i over reacting or are these prices REDICULUS?
Not sure how he shipped it, but UPS rounds up. anything over an ounce is a pound. the 8.55 seems about right if he had some form of confirmation added to it. I used to work in the mailroom back in the day and to send a few documents priority started at 3.50. Location really doesn't matter, it was getting to you in 2-3 days. UPS for 12 bucks seems unrealistic for ground. that was a 3 day select or 2 day for that price.

that is how those "mail centers" make their money, most of the shipping cost goes directly to the shipping company - next time look for the price that is printed on the "stamp" or "label" they affix to the box. That should show the real shipping "cost."
