Ok well i like to keep to shop at mom and pop stores trying to help them out but ive had it.

This local place which i wont say the name but they ship fedex, ups, and USPS and they tell you the rates of all the places which is cool and the problem is, they jack up the weight of your item.

I shipped a kicker distrobution block today it weighed 10oz with the padded envelope i bought from them for a dollar.

He charged as it weighed 16oz!

I paid 8.55 to ship a 10oz item to the next state over using priority!!!

It was $12 to ship it ups ground //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I shipped an amp through him that weighed 21lb and he jacked it up a lb.... Causing me to pay 24 to ship the amp IN THE SAME STATE!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

So am i over reacting or are these prices REDICULUS?

lol im sorry but shit my friend from maine shipped a batcap 2000 to me ups ground for like 20 bucks and it weighs around 40lb theres a problem there...

If you have a small item to ship just use USPS.com and print out the label. (if they paid with paypal this is super easy)

Then all you have to do is throw it in the mail box and put the flag up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I even do it for big items but then you have to either

1. hang it on the mail box using a bag or something (dont really feel safe doing that)

2. catch the mail man as he goes by ur house and hand it to him

3. Drop it off at the post office (I usually just do that considering the post office is like 2 mins away)

If you are suggesting this person/business is deliberately over-charging you, that is a crime. Call the cops.
Every shipping place Ive ever gone through had a scale right there to weigh the package where everyone could see.

My local place, post boxes etc, inflates there rates 100% over the rates charged on a companies website, Ie if it cost 10 bucks to ship fedex it cost 20 to ship it through them.

But they will deal with the bs of filing a claim for you which is kinda nice.

they went out of business last week i think, they havent been opened

my guess is because of the first bolded sentence.

Yes, these places all charge a fee. They have to make a profit or they wouldn't be in business. But to deliberately over-inflate package weights in order to extract extra money from customers would be a criminal act.

So many of these small authorized shippers charge you excess when you mail at their location. I prefer to either go directly to the post office, UPS or FedEx--cut out the price gouging middle man and be done with it. I know these little places have to survive but not at my expense I pray not. Some of them will tell you your packaging is inadequate and try to sell you more padding and a bigger box to kindly create distance from you and your hard earned money.
