I got a Question for everyone.

clarify please...

Are we talking Farad as in .5, 1.0 and larger for car audio application, say in a trunk? The great myth is that these larger CAPacitors provide that extra "Kick" or more "Power"

(((I know, I know guys..gimme a minute))))

the smaller "CAPS" are used in crossovers, amplifiers, and other electrical components and are usually measured in micro-farads.

Two entirely different applications... one good, one.....well...lets just call it a myth.

the larger capacitors are used for mostly a/c power application as buffers for a specified circuit...like starting an electric motor that requires three times the amperage at start-up. (ie: a 1/2 hp pump motor may run at a constant 8 amps but will require 21-24 amps to get it going) It just does not work, like the hyped sellers in the car audio industry try to tell you it will. Instead of wasting the money on a shiny piece of plastic... do the big three--- much more substantial results.

The 12 i have work pretty **** good.

LOL @ 12 Caps!--- what you have, sir, is a quick discharging, yet poor, 'battery/bank' which would be better served by an optima or kinetic battery in your trunk (or where ever your amps are).

Caps belong IN the amplifier, not in front of it!

A good power amp has plenty of reserve current available through the power supply for transients and peaks in the music. This is achieved through fairly large capacitors inside the power supply stage of the amp.

Now, putting an equivalent type device in front of the amp is just, well, unnecessary. If you think you *need* a capacitor, you're wrong, you need an upgrade to your electrical system. Or at least another battery, but this, like the cap isn't a good solution unless your electrical system is capable of supporting ANOTHER battery on top of your already massive current draw from your amps.

So don't waste your money on a cap. Do a big 3 upgrade, then a deep cycle batt, then if needed, high output alternator.
