I got a BS ticket today, need help

here in kansas you show up the first time ot get another court date so don't get too ready to fight and then get shut down for months while you wait on the new date

Well you dont need a lawyer but, after watching people defend themselves and basically seeing the judge not even pay attention, and also watch the judge help the cop make the defendant look like an idiot, I wouldnt do it. Was that a run-on sentence? anyway it just seemed like those people could have saved their time. However the ones with the lawyers always won, it almost seemed as though noone wanted to deal with the lawyer so they dropped it. I dont know. That has been myexpirience in MD and GA.

Same thing in GA. But in MD the first date is your court date.

my understand of the law is that private parking lots are not under most traffic laws...

i was tlakign to a cop and he told me they cant pull you over for running a stop sign in a lot, and usually they dotn even come out for parkign lot accidents cause its private property so the people should settle it on their own.

haha if this is th same case with your local laws tyhen youre in luck cause odds are you will get both dropped.

personally i hate dumb a.ss fu.cking cops like that i think they give themselves the bad name they say they dont deserve.

My brother got a ticket for hanging his GF's corsage on his mirror afyer the ball. "obstruction of view," sure... basically the BS cop bas being a dick and needed to meet a quota. the freakin cripple tags hang down farther than that thing.

Man, where the hell was that. I have gotten pulled over for what they thought was my tint being to dark on my car and then they looked in the back and seen a wall of speakers there. They gave me this stunned look and always let me go, lol! Now that is obstruction of view, haha! Still would get nailed for the tint sometimes. BTW why did you honk at him? It didnt sound like he was blocking your way at all from your story ???

I guess I didn't make that clear. Yes he was blocking my way in a chevy lumina.

Fine I'll explain it a little. Basically there was a car sitting in the middle of lane in a parking lot. The guy inside is talking to another guy outside of the car. This goes on for about 2 mintues. I honked my horn once and the guy pulls up. I drive around him and it turns out he's an undercover cop. He turns on his lights and pulls me over. He take my license and registration and I sit there for 20 minutes as he looks throuh his police handbook. He comes back and makes some smart *** comment to me as he hands me my license and registration. I told him that he harassed me. He snatches the license and registration out of my hand and sits in his car for another 15 mintues. He comes back and writes me a citation for "Driver use of motor vehicle horn on highway when not reasonably necessary for safety". Haha ok, I can fight that one and win since we were stopped in a parking lot. The he writes me another one for "Highway use of vehicle excessive number of spot lamps." He told me that you are only allowed to have one spotlight in the state of maryland:eyebrow: . I drive a crown vic by the way so I think that's part of why he's giving me a hard time. So yeah.

i got this ticket too....but my ticket said "unnecessary horn"...dont even bother fighting it...i did, and they didnt even drop it...$120 fine w/ $30 surcharge.

Correct. It isn't what is defined as a 'public roadway' and as such does not fall under the regulatory demands controlling operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway.

In my part of Louisiana they'll normally send out "auxilliary" cops to work accidents in parking lots. If a regular beat cop has to do it expect to be there awhile waiting on them to show up...

i would fight it. if you lose youll just have to pay the costs. just remember that your not proving you are innocent. you have to make the cop prove your guilty. just hope the judge is a good one.

don't plead guilty. fight it and get the point across that you weren't using your horn to promote road rage. and point out how the driver's ed program taught us to use our lights and horn to communicate with other drivers.. at least here in california it did.

That's an excellent idea. Considering we were in a parking lot, I think I have a good case. Maybe I'll just tell the judge that there was only one spotlight on my car and he gave us that ticket because he was harassing us. **** that dude you can EASILY fight that...

Ive got some BS tickets before... and have gone to court with out a lawer. Just ask the judge in a VERY nice and calm tone (Also dress nice) "Your honor would I be able to explain the situation to the court" and of course they willl say "yes" so just explain to them WORD for word what happened.

Also in NY you are allowed to use your horn if something is "blocking" traffic. That was a question I Got asked when taking my permit.
