You can make both setups sound great and hit hard with the right box design.

Its honestly what kind of LOOK you are going for, because they can both sound the same.

I'm personally a fan of two 12s, and its what I plan on putting in my truck here soon.

If you plan on playing below the 28hz range with full power I would not go with 8's. Also if this is going in a trunk I would not go with the 8's. The big difference here is 320 ounces of magnet vs 160 ounces. Personally as long as it isn't a trunk setup I would go with the 8's.
