I finally get a second PDX1.1000 and it all goes up in smoke :(

not that this matters or anything but i would like to point out that if the OP had each sub wired at 2 ohms and then paralleled them together for a one ohm load, then hooked them up to a PAIR of STRAPPED amps it would be at .5 ohms to ea. amp

so there, its possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
I'm pretty sure he said he wired each one to two ohms then connected one to a respectve amp. Correct me if i'm wrong

ya, that was my thought as well, strapped amps....but after reading some more of the op posts, (calling support, loose wire) i figured it was beyond him to do that.

I say he has the gain too high and clipped it to death.

OP holding phone reciever near sub: "Does it sound clipped?"

Alpine Tech: "no turn the gain up more"

op (and all who didnt catch this) you cant get a 2ohm load running a single dual 2 to ea. amp. wired in series 4ohm, parralel 1ohm. Only way for you to get a 2 ohm load is with a single coil or a bunrt coil.

Not quite sure what to tell ya but it sounds like you had both subs hooked up to one amp with a 2ohm load then wired ea sub to individual amps with prob a 1 ohm load. Is the amp stable at 1 ohm?

Just my opinion.

ahhh ya... well, the Type X only comes in a dvc 4, so each one was wired to 2 ohms, then connected to each amp. so yes, he can wire a dvc 4 into a 2 ohm load on each amp.

Providing thats what he did.

And also, the pdx amps are not strapable.

the Type X only comes in a dvc 4.
I stand corrected. I was not aware that the type x only comes in dual 4's. Learn something new every day.

In that case. Don't know what to tell ya.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

FYI, I tuned the amps by ear. I don't own or have the know how to operate an o-scope, and I don't own DMM. I also found out that the original amp I have that blew the sub has an internal problem of some kind and thats why it clipped (even with the gain all the way down edzy). So unless you guys want to keep fighting over how you strap amps and wire DVC subwoofers instead of trying to provide any advice, this thread can finally die. Goodnight.
